Grant Recipients

Oswin RoadWhilst the scheme was aimed at enabling local communities to create their own green space, some of them felt that they didn’t want to handle the fairly large sums of money that were required to actually carry out the practical work on site. As such we developed a system whereby the landowner (e.g. a local authority or parish council), could apply for the grant and be the grant recipient, but could hand over day-to-day responsibility for managing the site to the local community group via a framework agreement.

There were three different framework agreements:

  • Framework 1 where the landowner who is also the grant recipient, passes the grant on to the DG group to manage and create the green
  • Framework 2 where the landowner who is also the grant recipient enters into an arrangement with a partner organisation eg a local authority, who will provide support to manage and maintain the green
  • Framework 3 where the landowner who is also the grant recipient works in partnership with the DG community advisory group
